- Lightweight laptop computer with power supply, strong case, and all necessary software installed. Computer should have a wireless modem, Ethernet port, and dial-up port for maximum flexibility.

- International Power Conversion Plugs. You don’t need all of them and you really can buy most of them for any particular country once you get to that country but it can take some hunting around.
- USB headset for Skype calls.

- Digital camera with a few memory cards.
